What makes you called an “artist”?

Jack,

I think I understood the problem you are facing. And I think this
must be a general problem for most people in this group.
So if I may repeat what you said, in other words:

What is the final touch that will change a craft to an object of art?

The upcomming action to do that comes to my mind is to invite some
artist to this group and to let them share their ideas with us. I`ll
start my search and my invitations today.

I would like to encourage all of you to invite you the “artists” and
the “artists around you” to write a small message about that in our
group. It will be very fructuous work for all, that will be a great
brainstorming.

I will try also to convince some associations to participate in our
group so as they will be guiding all of us so as to achieve our
goals.

Also I would like to share with you a small anecdote/quote of the
day: When I first started to study sociology at Grenoble/France, one
of my professor`s first speach just made me really excited about
sociology. She was saying: “the first day you start to study
Sociology, even the first book you start to read about the sociology
is enough for me to call you a “sociologist”. It is your interest
and your goodwill for this discipline that makes you a sociologist,
and not the diploma that you will receive at the end of four years
of study. That`s why also you shouldn`t introduce yourself
as “student in sociology” around you, but absolutely
as “Sociologist”.

So the lesson about that history: Introduce yourself to people
around you as an “artist”. That will start to change people`s
behaviour positively to you and your art works. Also it will change
your approach to the way you do your work. Just try it!

Best wishes

It isn¹t art yet. It¹s more a craft, although like any artist, the end result is dependent on the decisions I make along the way. Do I take a little more off here or would it be better to remove some there? When is it sanded enough, and when is too much? What finish do I use? I keep working on the quality of my work. It makes me happy when I can turn out something that is almost perfect. If I make something that finally is
