Artwork: unique or hundred replica?

Would like to repond to a point that you had made.

“A “maker” who
repeats is same design over and over is not creating art either.”

Absolutely correct, repetition is not creating but recreating art.
Through your definition, your daughters drawings are art because they
are and interpretation of the world through her eyes. Is a vision
any less of a vision because you did it twice? Maybe the artistry is
in recreating the feeling of the original piece or maybe in producing
the piece. Maybe art isn’t held within the piece at all, maybe it is
within the maker. You stated that building a reputation is vital to
being a high value artist. If that is the case, it doesn’t matter
what you make the artistic value is in the name and does not matter
if you make one piece or one hundred pieces.

Another thought,

Is a musician only an artist the first time a song is played? An
artist uses non-conventional means of expressing life experience. We
all have different methods that we have developed in response to the
lessons we have learned and all are as different as the medium
employed. Being able to convey feeling is true artistry. Art is a
package and not a piece.
